Who have believed and whose hearts have rest in the remembrance of Allah. Verily in the remembrance of Allah do hearts find rest! (28). The Holy Quran, Surah Ar-Rad, Verse number 28.
It is not a surprise, performing prayers in the masjid, which cuts you out from the world for a few minutes, would bring calmness and sense of relief. Reading the quran and being immersed in it would give you a sense of satisfaction that nothing else could. Glorifying The Almighty and thus making us the servant who needs Him more than anything else, makes us realise how tiny we are.
You might think by watching a movie, it will make you happy. Turns out to be, it is only momentarily. You will end up watching another after another. Still, you discover it does not bring any happiness that would last a while. Movies after movies, songs after songs, parties after parties and the list goes on. Regardless, you keep on searching for the happiness which doesn’t exist in any of these. There is no real sense of happiness. Looking for temporary pleasures too would not make you really satisfied. You will keep on hunting and searching and you will never get to the point when you say, “this is it” because you will realise how foolish you are to say, “I’ll be happy once I have that”. In the end, that thing that you thought would be it, is not.
Allah ﷻ created us. We we designed to be forgetful, weak, hungry and definitely we have desires. Allah ﷻ reminded us to be grateful. Be thankful and you will be happy with whatever that comes your way. Believing that Allah ﷻ is always there watching over us, will make us be conscious of our acts and we will not be going wayward as we wouldn’t want the repercussions. We shall always be patient and we know something good will come out of it because we were promised of good news should we remain patient always.
You have nothing to lose. Remember Allah ﷻ. Perform and make your prayers. Abstain from sins and be God conscious. Believe that Allah ﷻ is the Ultimate Owner of our hearts. That is the only way for us to be happy and peaceful. Going against Allah ﷻ command will not jeopardise Him but definitely we are destroying our sanity, tranquility and calmness here in this world and the hereafter.
Being rich and famous doesn’t make you happy. Being pious, righteous and obedient towards Allah ﷻ will give you the best of life here in this world and in jannah.
