How do you fight laziness? Definitely not potions and spells or drugs and alcohol. It is all up to you. It is all about urgency. If you are hungry, you would get up and find some food. When there is a need, we would do whatever it takes to achieve it. However, when the hunger is not present, the desire to do something would be tough.
Cultivating good habits from young is something that everyone should actually go through. Brushing teeth in the morning for instance, is a habit you want to keep. Cultivate virtuous habits doesn’t exist in everyone’s life. Some people believe that fighting for your rights is the most important thing. With this attitude, it sadly creates the “Self Before Others” character and thus causing ignoring other people’s right in achieving the needs and wants that he desires. Being unapologetic and disregarding others would be something that they would say, “Collateral Damage” or, “Can’t Be Help” situation.
“Dog eats dog world” is a principle that no man should use as humans should be considerate and a second nature to help others. We at some point in our lives too needed help from other humans. Such as, when we were born, we needed someone to feed us, to clothe us, to soothe us and even change our diapers. It showed that we were not all so independent and self-reliant, not needing the help of other humans.
We should remind ourselves that we do need reminders too. We need to remind others as how we know we would tend to forget. If someone cares for you, you know they would tell you what is bad for you when you are deluded into certain things which fog your views. You might not be thinking straight at a certain point and all it takes is for someone who cares to remind you of the fall that you might make if you pursue.
Being disciplined requires you to sacrifice the things that you enjoy. You might want to continue sleeping even though the sun is up. You might want to spend all the money you have forgetting that you have bills and debt to pay. Sacrificing your ego will make you move forward in helping others and making others happy would make you happy too. The only way to be selfless is to appreciate the things in life and recognising all the help you have received all your life. Putting in effort into everything that you do would give you a sense of satisfaction.
Brushing your teeth is not something that you enjoy doing but because of habit, you continue to do it. Only then, you will realise the feeling of having clean set of teeth, fresher breath and beautiful smile, is satisfying. You wouldn’t want to miss a day not brushing your teeth. You like the feeling so much, that you would want to brush it often, even before you sleep.
If you choose not to be lazy, you would benefit yourself and you yourself will enjoy the fruit of your labour. No one can change you, but you. It is all about getting used to and making it a good habit.
