It doesn’t matter if you are getting haters if you know what you are doing is not a sin. If someone hates you for being polite, that should not stop you from being polite. Ignore distractions and don’t let whispers of the devil sink in. Persevere and the fruits of your labour will be tasted by you.
However, we should welcome criticism especially if we are not sure if the things that we do are right or wrong. We might think something that we do is fine but on the actual fact, it could be harming and hurting others. For instance, smoking. Of course you would not want people to police you around telling you what is right or wrong. Nevertheless, if the smoke from your cigarette is affecting those around you, you should be conscious about it and be considerate. Otherwise, you can pretty much do whatever you want.
It is normal for others to mock and make unwanted remarks about some good deeds that one might do. You will see less of such if someone were to do something of the opposite. Especially if the bad stuffs become something normal. If everyone is drinking alcohol, no one would say anything about it. However, if someone choose not to drink it, he will be mocked.
In conclusion, be in a group of people who would do what you would do. Don’t be in the company of those who drink if you don’t. If you smoke, stay away from those who do not smoke, while you are smoking. Choose your circle of friends. Yes, the circle of friends matters. Either you influence them, or they influence you. Do not put yourselves in a place that is not suitable for you.
